In Greece, home heating constitutes 70% of the total energy consumption; the energy consumption only for the operation of home appliances, air conditioners and lighting, amounts to 18% of the total energy balance. With regards to heating, 36% of households use oil central heating, while the remaining 64% are autonomously heated homes, that use 25% oil, 12% electricity and 18% firewood. The difficult economic conjecture, making diesel price equal to heating oil and the Energy Efficiency Regulation of Buildings (KENAK) leads to people looking for effective ways to save energy and money.
