[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The four cave dwellings are located at the southern tip\/end of the prefecture of Chania, in the natural bay of Lakkoi, in Skaloti Sfakion. The study area is in connection with the coastal zone and has a strong slot- it extends from a level of 3 meters of the sea and reaches up to 23 meters.<\/p>\n

The main idea of the composition includes\/involves the integration of the buildings into the natural relief. The entire complex acrobats\/ walk the line on the height curves, offering an unobstructed view to the sea. On the roofs of the building volumes the natural soil\/ground restored and planted with sedums and aromatic plants which is thriving in the area.<\/p>\n

The repetition of the water element in the configuration of the courtyard space enhances the visual integration of the sea when viewing\/ looking to the South.<\/p>\n

At the same time, in the direction of this underground array, two anti-diametrical external scales placed, which define the smooth\/segue downward path from the surrounding space to the alley with the entrances of the houses. The alley is located between the analemmatic stonework and the northern face of the underground space, forming a ventilation and lighting system with the vertical passages which arranged vertical to it and separating the individual dwellings.<\/p>\n

During the implementation of the project the aluminum thermal insulation profiles Europa ESS47 were chosen for the frames, as they met the specifications for the sea proximity and with high wind intensity areas. The narrow cross-section of this series met the aesthetic requirements of the architectural study and allowed an unobstructed view to the outside of the swimming pool at its junction with the Mediterranean horizon.
