TWO-STORY HOUSE IN KIFISSIA

Architectural Office: A-team STUDY LTD. Architecture & Design

Year of completion: 2014

In the middle of an elongated plot with a 1:4 ratio, this typical two-story single-family house was placed 30 years ago. Trapped between an adjoining building (with a blind southern facade) and an apartment building, it maintained an almost non-existent connection with the external space, limited to two narrow facades. The northern side, with small auxiliary openings, faced the outdoor passageway that connects the eastern and western surrounding areas.
Given these constraints, a three-level residence was completely redesigned to meet the modern needs of a family. The two elongated blind facades became the neck of the hourglass, through which the flow of daily life is channeled, restoring the natural connection of the ground floor with the two outdoor spaces.
