Environmentally Friendly
The protection of the environment and people, has always been a core and enduring value of Europa. As part of the development of the comprehensive Europa Cares plan, the company has included actions related to environmental protection. Europa leverages the best available techniques in a continuous effort to reduce its environmental footprint and protect its workforce from occupational hazards, while also utilising significant innovations in the processing of aluminium profiles.
Why We Choose Aluminium
As one of the largest aluminium extrusion product manufacturers in Greece, Europa is proud to use aluminium as its primary raw material. Aluminium is non-toxic, fully (100%) recyclable, and reusable after special processing, with minimal energy cost, making it environmentally friendly. Aluminium retains its light weight and high strength even when recycled, making it extremely valuable in a wide range of applications.
Water Resource Management System (liquid waste/water consumption)
Water resources are one of the greatest challenges in environmental protection. Europa has developed an integrated zero liquid waste disposal system. Emphasis is placed both on containing hazardous substances and reducing risks to workers, as well as on minimizing water consumption.
This management system separates the pollutant load of liquid waste from the water through an evaporator, returns the water from the liquid waste back to production, and collects the waste in appropriate containers. Additionally, it includes the application of chrome-free technology in Electrostatic Coating and the installation of a closed-circuit system for the handling of both the liquid raw materials used in the production process and the liquid waste from the facility. Through this Liquid Waste Management System, Europa achieves significant waste reduction and water conservation. This is the first time such a management system has been applied in a Greek extrusion industry, making Europa a pioneer in environmental responsibility in Greece.
Worker Protection Systems in the Production Process
Thanks to the liquid waste management system, maximum safety for workers in production is ensured. The company conducts continuous measurements in production areas every two months by an independent laboratory, certifying that pollutant levels remain within the legal limits.
The company is certified with ISO 14001 for the Environment and ISO 45001 for Occupational Health & Safety (OHS).
Europa's Energy Initiatives
Europa also takes steps toward producing electricity to offset the energy consumption of its production process. Energy production units from environmentally friendly alternative sources form a central pillar of this plan. Solar photovoltaic systems with a capacity of 1 MW have been installed on the rooftops of its buildings.
Europa's Tree-Planting Initiatives
EUROPA has planted an olive grove covering over 25,000 square meters on the premises of its central facilities, enhancing its environmental efforts.
Europa's Vehicle Emission Policies
A strong emphasis is placed on reducing exhaust gas emissions from company vehicles. All of EUROPA’s cars are low-emission and energy-efficient. Additionally, the company’s truck fleet is constantly being renewed with trucks of the latest technology.
Europa's Recycling and Paper Consumption Reduction Initiatives
At selected points in Europa’s facilities (production and offices), blue recycling bins are available, along with special bins for recycling lamps, batteries, and caps, for the collection of all recyclable waste.
At the same time, strict recycling of documents and old printed materials is enforced, which, in cooperation with relevant bodies, are forwarded for recycling and reuse in other applications/uses.
