The newly built two storey / duplex apartment in Ano Dasos Chaidari is located on a plot with a steep incline, offering an unlimited view of the urban landscape. The high-altitude difference combined with the view impose the need to place the largest parts of premises in the main façade/view. The southeast orientation allows the placement of large openings without affecting the energy of the building, as long as the goal is to ensure an energy class A+.

The residence is developed in four levels-basement, ground floor, first floor and mezzanine- following a layout in which the private spaces are placed on the ground floor, while the living spaces are on the first floor. The purpose is the bedrooms to have a direct contact with the ground and planting, offering to the young children of the family a safe environment to play.

The living room, with the wide openings on either side, aiming placed to the first floor, functioned as an observatory, yet to the urban landscape in the front view, as well as the forest in the back.

To emphasize this function an interesting geometry game is created, displaying the volume of the living room almost to the limits of the building line so that it acquires the feeling of the telescope. At the same time, the roof of the ground floor is planted on the back side, so that there is harmony with the natural environment.

Due to the offbeat layout of the functions imposed by the altitude difference of the plot, the need arose to place the main entrance of the residence in the basement. To make the route interesting, a covered double-height outdoor space is created in the lap of the building.

It is planted and surrounded by a decorative panel that creates a pleasant conciliation with the light, at the same time protecting the privacy of the spaces facing it. The purpose is to receive the visitor from a “planted embrace” in the bowels of the building and to be exposed to the urban landscape projected from the living room.

The building, as a whole, is shaped with simple lines, while inside wood is the main chosen material with black details, which contrast with the white casing.
